Introduction to Chainsaw use for Women

This is a practical hands-on 1 day course designed for women woodland owners and home owners who use a chainsaw on their own land. The course will provide tips, provide confidence, advice and techniques to help keep you safe.

The course will cover:-

  • Choosing an appropriate chain saw model
  • Finding the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Safe starting and stopping of a chain saw
  • Cross cutting techniques
  • Chain saw sharpening and maintenance
  • The things that can go wrong

The course tutor is Aly May who is an experienced forestry practitioner and a partner in a successful forestry Business ‘Say it with Wood’.  The course will provide the confidence to start and use a chainsaw safely and provide the first step to further formal training.

The course will be held at Leighton Court, Much Cowarne. Herefordshire. HR8 2UN.

We limit numbers to 4 participants per course so please book early. We will run this course routinely with sufficient bookings and we will take group bookings.
