Tool Sharpening – Crosscut Saws

28 September

Course Cost £80

Venue – GreenWood Centre, Coalbrookdale, TF8 7DR

Learn how to sharpen and maintain a 2 person cross cut and felling saw. The iconic forestry tool is still a very relevant  and useful tool.  Like any tool the 2 person saw is  safer and works more efficiently when sharp and it is important to pass on the important skills of sharpening. The saws are surprisingly effective  when sharp  and  when used correctly and have become more popular in recent years especially for woodland projects and when working with volunteers and young people.

You will learn:

  • Identify different saws and patterns appropriate for use.
  • Tools and devices to aid sharpening
  • How to sharpen and set
  • Maintenance and storage
  • Correct techniques for use

Participants can bring their own saws  to sharpen as well as working on a number of different saw patterns
