Member event: An Introduction to the Management of Coppice Woodlands

13 October

9.30am to 4pm at Wernbrake Wood near Chepstow. Wernbrake Wood is a cooperatively owned woodland lying just outside the village of Llanvair Discoed, about 7 miles west of Chepstow. It is a previously ancient woodland site (PAWS) which was planted with conifer and then clear felled. It now has a mix of species including birch and willow, with some oak and ash and around 100 hazel coppice stands. In the morning we will walk around the woodland and discuss coppicing and layering, tool use and marketing of products. The afternoon will be a practical training session where we will learn basic coppice techniques.

There will be a charge of £40 per head for this event. To book please email amandacalvert@smallwoods.org.uk or call 01952 432769.
