Member Event: Making a Living From Sustainable Woodlands – Bulworthy Project, Devon

15 July

We are delighted to be teaming up with the Small Woodland Owner’s Group for a joint event at the Bulworthy Project.

The morning will be spent at Courage Copse Creatives, near Umberleigh. This is a relatively new woodland enterprise set in a PAWS site which is being restored to a native woodland. As well as the production of charcoal and bio-char, Courage Copse Creatives offer horse logging courses and host many interesting educational and artistic events.

Then we will go to Bulworthy Project for a delicious lunch of local produce.

Bulworthy Project was originally a charcoal production business which has now expanded out in many directions. As well as hosting and running courses, there is a pop-up cafe and a cabin for tourist accommodation set in a woodland described by Devon Wildlife Trust as a “mosaic of habitats”.

After lunch, there will be a discussion about all aspects of running a woodland enterprise including, marketing, packaging, planning permission and sustainability not just for your land, but for yourself.

The meeting is open to members and costs £12 to cover the cost of food and refreshments. Please use the Small Woods PayPal button to book. Book here
