Visit to Coed Pedr, Powys

22 July

At the foot of the Brecon Beacons,  Coed Pedr was a neglected, 5 acre conifer wood with some mature oak and other deciduous trees, planted as a commercial wood in the 1950’s.  Following an intensive conifer felling operation, Coed Pedr was planted with oak and other broadleaf trees earlier this year.  This July, we will look at what has regenerated amongst the trees and the challenges of converting a commercial conifer woodland into a broadleaf amenity wood.
