Thanks to a very successful bid, we have recently been able to launch a number of new projects in Wales through the Shared Prosperity Fund.
One such project is ‘Connecting People, Nature and Place’ on Anglesey, which aims to improve skills, community resilience and wellbeing for those furthest from the employment market, including those with complex health needs. We do this by by establishing and developing accessible outdoor sites, providing activities that encourage skill development and improving woodlands and knowledge of the local environment on Anglesey.
The team are in place, and delivery has begun with a wide variety of woodland wellbeing activities planned for the coming year including:
- Weekly Friday sessions
- Monthly drop in volunteer sessions
- 6 week woodland wellbeing programmes
- Taster sessions for schools and colleges
- Supported progression
- Training in woodland skills
Our activities and also support preventative health care by encouraging behaviour change - this includes more physical activity, improved wellbeing through group activities, connecting to nature and giving something back by improving woodland sites.
"‘We have an amazing team in Ynys Mon and are so excited about the opportunity to expand our current provision, to work with more people with health and wellbeing needs and providing learning opportunities for individuals to improve local woodland sites and their knowledge of the local area"
Kate Clements, North Wales Coordinator
