We are delighted to offer this rare opportunity to spend an immersive day with environmental forester Frankie Woodgate, learning about ancient woodland restoration, and watching horse logging in action.

Frankie and our Woodland Training Officer, Chris Keeler, will guide you through the main features of ancient woodland and the restoration process. Frankie and her team will then give a demonstration of her working horses, showing how they can be utilised for an array of low-impact woodland management tasks, including timber extraction. The woodland we will be using has been managed using low-impact methods since the mid-90s, and the benefits of this approach are evident.

The day will cover:

- What is ancient woodland?
- Ancient woodland indicator species
- Woodland archaeology
- Pests, diseases and invasives
- Working horses in ancient woodlands

Frankie Woodgate is the owner of renowned low-impact woodland management company, Weald Woodscapes, and has recently been featured on the Channel 4 series 'Sandi's Woodland Restoration'.
