Introduction to Coppicing
- Lag Wood, Hassocks
- 30 Jan 2025
It’s been 25 years since Small Woods became a registered charity and, to celebrate, we are asking our members and supporters to help raise vital funds this year.
The challenge is up to you – just work it around the number 25. Maybe you’ll clock up 25 miles on foot, either by walking or running in your own or your favourite woodlands. Why not visit 25 woodlands this year or notice 25 different things to look out for in nature? Whether it’s identifying 25 different trees, creating 25 woodland-inspired works of art or forest bathing on 25 different occasions, the challenge itself is bound only by your imagination.
Friends, family and colleagues can encourage you with sponsorship and, by taking part, you’ll help to spread the word about the valuable work we do in supporting sustainable woodland management and helping thousands engage in these special places for health and wellbeing.
To keep the fun in fundraising, we encourage participants to raise an achievable minimum target of £25 in sponsorship – but feel free to aim higher and push that total as far as it will go!
Don’t forget to share snaps or videos of your challenge with us via our social media pages, using the hashtag #SWA25in25.
Step 1: Come up with your own woodland-themed challenge based around the number 25 and set your goal.
Step 2: Spread the word about what you are doing and use one of our posters to help illustrate your challenge when you share it on social media, using the hashtag #SWA25in25.
Step 3: Ask people to sponsor you by visiting our Make a donation page. They can leave you a message that will appear below. Alternatively, gather the sponsorship yourself and make a one-off donation to us with the final amount once your challenge is complete.
Most importantly, have fun as you go!
