"Woodlands into Management" is a series of events ran in partnership with small woodland owners and workers across the country. These events are organised and facilitated by the Small Woods Association, in partnership with FSC."
 
These one-day events aim to encourage and inspire woodland owners and managers to bring woodlands into sustainable management and overcome some of the barriers that might stand in the way. Each session will provide training, advice, and discussion on a specific aspect of the woodland management process, with experienced guest speakers offering insights.  
  
Join us on Monday 30th September at Abbey St Bathan’s for the unique opportunity to learn about this family-run estate and their woodland management and production operations. Located in south-east Scotland, the family have modernised and professionalised their forest management and sawmilling business to achieve long-term sustainable management of the estate.  
 
Estate mills were once commonplace in the Scottish landscape but ceased operations during the 20th century. We will be given a tour of the estate's woodland and timber production process, to understand the importance of small-to-medium scale timber production in the Scottish landscape.  
  
FSC are the main funder for these events, allowing them to be ran at low-cost. Places are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
