In the spring, our members enjoyed an inspiring walk around Wytham Woods led by ecologist Keith Kirby. But with so much to see at this iconic woodland, we only got half way round!
Wytham has been the subject of continuous ecological research programmes dating back to the 1940s. This visit will take in the woods – which have been owned and maintained by the University of Oxford since 1942 – in all their autumn glory. The tradition of research at Wytham continues today with more than 100 separate research projects currently being conducted in the woods.
The event will involve walking approximately 4-5 miles on well-made stoned tracks and grassy rides. It wil also involve some gentle uphill sections.
Good footwear and waterproofs are advised. Please bring your own picnic lunch.
The event is likely to be popular, so early booking is advised.
